When I finished Fruits Basket, I saw a lot of recommendations for this anime, Ouran Highschool Host Club. In addition, I constantly hear good things about this show and this encouraged me to give the show a try.
Here is my review.
Ouran High is a school for the extremely wealthy or, in Haruhi’s case, the extremely talented. But no amount of talent will help when Haruhi accidentally drops an eight million yen vase in a music room. The vase was the property of Ouran High School Host Club, a group of attractive young men who, for a fee, provide their time and affections for their lovesick clients: the female students. Fascinated by this strange new specimen, a poor and clumsy commoner, they force Haruhi to work for them until the debt is repaid; but they get a lot more than they bargained for…
This show has a very innocent and light hearted story line as most of it is based on comedy. Each episode is a different story, which is great for watching with friends without giving away a load of spoilers. Most of the episodes involve an aspect of comedy, but also have a very meaningful message behind them. which is what allowed me to continue watching.
The animation is pretty basic in my opinion as there isn’t really anything that stands out in terms of art style. Also, the show tends to be catered more towards the feminine audience as there aren’t many girls with loads of personality or ‘plot’. However, it doesn’t shy away from the male audience either.
Each character is very unique and fall under the stereotypes of anime guys. E.g. the cool type and the silent type. This then makes it easier to decide your favourite. I enjoyed learning about each character as their personality is sometimes the complete opposite to their back story, especially Honey-senpai’s.
Overall, I would give this anime…
Thank you for reading.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
