Neverwinter is an MMORPG which is based on the Dungeons and Dragons series.
It was created in 2013 and has risen to be one of the top free to play MMORPGS.
In addition, it is also one of my favourites.
Neverwinter is known for having tons of different races in which come with their own sets of abilities and personalities. For example, wood elves are able to use nature skills and drows are able to use thievery skills without having to buy the specified kits/items etc.
Human +2 Any Ability Score, Versatile Defense, Heroic Effort
Humans are a diverse people in both appearance and lifestyle. They are adaptable and capable of surviving in various climates, allowing the race to excel in almost any conditions. Most human adventurers become fighters or rogues, but some devote their lives to the study of the arcane or the piety of the clergy.
Drow +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma or +2 Wisdom
Drow are a decadent race of dark elves whose beauty and sophistication fail to mask hearts all too often stained in evil. The vast majority of dark elves base their behavior and attitudes on the worship of the chaotic evil goddess Lolth, also known as the Spider Queen.
Drow society is organized into houses. The heads of the most powerful houses occupy leadership position in the various cities of the Underdark, the subterranean realm beneath Faerûn that the dark elves call home.
Dwarf +2 Constitution, +2 Strength or +2 Wisdom
Carved from the bedrock of the universe, dwarves endured an age of servitude to giants before winning their freedom. Their mighty mountain fortress-cities testify to the power of their ancient empires. Even those who live in human cities are counted among the staunchest defenders against the darkness that threatens to engulf the world.”
Half – Elf +2 Constitution, +2 Strength or +2 Wisdom

Half – Orc +2 Dexterity
Half-orcs combine the best qualities of humans and orcs, though some would argue that the good qualities of orcs are few and hard to find. From their orc blood, half-orcs inherit great physical strength and toughness. They are fierce warriors, fleet of foot as they charge into battle.
Halfling +2 Dexterity
Halflings are a small race known for their resourcefulness, quick wits, and steady nerves. They are a nomadic folk who roam waterway and marshlands. No people travel farther or see more of what happens in the world than halflings.
Menzoberranzan Renegade +2 Dexterity
Drow from the city of Menzoberranzan are raised in a world of lies and treachery. The noble houses of these dark elves are in constant conflict, vying for power and the favor of their evil goddess, Lolth the Spider Queen.
Sometimes a drow tires of the constant strife. Others see through the corrupt dogma of the way of Lolth and seek a better way. There is no place within Menzoberranzan society for such drow and when discovered are branded as renegades, outcast from their house, and exiled from the city.
Tiefling +2 Charisma , +2 Constitution or +2 Intelligence
Plagued by a dark and sinister heritage, tieflings walk through the shadows of their race’s past, savoring the darkness or trying to escape it. Tieflings are scattered throughout Faerûn, littered geographically in a reminder of distant times when devils and demons exerted an active influence over the lands.”
Dragonborn +2 to any 2 stats
The Dragonborn Legend Pack is a purchasable pack introduced with Module 4: Tyranny of Dragons. It can be purchased from outside the game, or from the Zen Market for 7,500.
In Neverwinter, you can choose up to three unique types of elves. Each type is mostly suited to a certain class. e.g. wood elves make better archers since they have great accuracy whereas moon elves are great assassins as they are able to move around quickly..
Wood Elf +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence or +2 Wisdom
Wild and free, elves guard their forested lands using stealth and deadly arrows from the trees. They build their home in close harmony with the forest, so perfectly joined that travelers often fail to notice that they have entered an elven community until it is too late.
Sun Elf +2 Intelligence, +2 Dexterity or +2 Charisma Inner Calm
The sun elves have lived apart from the events of the world for thousands of years. They mimic the aloof nature of their society in their personal actions as well. They are slow to smile, quick to disparage, and always ready to demonstrate their superior knowledge and skill.
- Moon Elf +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma or +2 Wisdom Faerie Fire
Moon elves revel in travel and exploration. Open to new experiences and honest by nature, moon elves are often seen as worthy companions by the people they meet in their travels
As well as the many different races that are available to play as, there are also a variety of classes that each hold a different experience when you play them.
Control Wizards primarily focus on controlling the battlefield and dealing damage to a large number of creatures simultaneously. Because of the wizard’s role as a controller, they possess more crowd control options than any other class. Their ability to deal high amounts of damage gives them the secondary role of striker. They wield a magical orb and are capable of unleashing torrents of damage on enemy parties. They can only wear cloth armor
Devoted Clerics primarily focus on healing and buffing allies. Because of the cleric’s role as a leader, they possess more healing than any other class. Clerics can also grant stat boosts, temporary hit points, haste, and other buffs to themselves and their allies. Their ability to snare and push opponents gives them the secondary role of controller. They wield holy symbols and are capable of turning the tide of any battle with a single spell. The cleric wears chain armor.
Great Weapon Fighter
This class relies on brute strength alone to overcome the enemies. They are warriors who sacrifice shields in favor of large two-handed weapons. While mainly being an offensive class, Great Weapon Fighters still have considerable defense by carrying scale armor. Additionally, Great Weapon Fighters have a natural +6 Armor Class.
A fighter is a class with martial origin and excels in primary role of a Defender. The Guardian Fighter is a build of Fighter which uses tactics and placement while fighting the enemy intelligently. Guardian Fighter has a secondary role of a leader and is a warrior who fights with a shield and heavy armor, thus able to fight with a high degree of survivability and control the battle around him or her. A Guardian Fighter’s high Hit Points and abilities make it acceptable for crowd control roles and ideal for boss tanking. Placement and tactics are very important for a guardian fighter. Guardian Fighters are proficient in Plate armor.
Hunter Ranger ( in my opinion, this is my favourite class)
The Hunter Ranger is Neverwinter’s sixth class, introduced with the Shadowmantle module. Hunter Rangers are striker/contollers who switch between melee and ranged attacks using the Tab key. The ability to switch between melee and ranged attacks is gained upon reaching 10th level. This allows the Hunter Ranger to access 6 encounter powers and 4 At-will powers simultaneously; effectively making the Hunter Ranger a 2-in-1 class. The Hunter Ranger’s dodge mechanic, also known as a shift, is of shorter distance than the Cleric’s,Rogue’s, or Wizard’s, but drains less stamina.
Warlocks can fill one of three roles in a group. They can dedicate themselves to the dark arts and decimate their foes, either by dealing necrotic damage and cursing foes or by summoning their soul puppet to augment their damage. Additionally Warlocks can support their allies by tearing the souls from their foes to heal and empower their allies. The three feat trees are broken up as described below.
- Fury – A Fury Warlock destroys his foes with fire and death, cursing his foes and then decimating them with his most powerful spells, leaving them a smoking husk.
- Damnation – A Damnation Warlock controls a soul puppet to empower himself and destroy his foes, eventually making this puppet a permanent part of his arsenal. While his Soul Puppet is active he is a much more potent combatant who can destroy foes at various distances.
- Temptation – A Temptation Warlock binds the souls of his foes and his allies to steal the very life force from his foes to heal his allies. He also commands several auras that bolster nearby allies or weaken nearby foes.
Armed with twin-bladed weapons and the ability to vanish under the cloak of darkness, the Trickster Rogue is a force of sudden and most certain death. Facing a Rogue can be devastating. Their unique combination of abilities makes them able to daze, stun and slow the enemy, while shredding armor — or outright ignoring it — often with deadly results.
A Rogue’s abilities revolve around Stealth, allowing the Trickster to move unseen by most enemies and gain strategic advantage over them. Each Encounter Power can be performed while seen, or while Stealthed, each to different ends. This affords a Rogue a measure of versatility in individual engagements.
The Trickster is not without weakness. Clad in mostly leather armor, the Rogue is susceptible to any incoming damage. However, Rogues can Tumble, dodging most attacks and rolling effortlessly out of harm’s way.
